Palak Paneer is a great combination which is rich in protein, calcium and vitamins. Everyone knows and loves Palak Paneer curry. Palak Paneer Paratha is good for breakfast and even to pack in the lunch box for children and adults. It does not need any thig else to accompany . It is a complete food in itself.

Palak Paneer Paratha is a stuffed paratha just like aloo paratha, gobhi paratha, cabbage paratha or green peas paratha. In these parathas we prepare the stuffing of veggies and later stuff it in the parathas and then cook. We can make Palak Paneer Paratha in the same manner as well.

Ingredients for Palak Paneer Paratha Dough

  • Palak : 1 bunch
  • Whole Wheat Flour : 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Powder : 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder : 1/2 tsp (as per taste and requirement)
  • Water to knead Dough
  • Ghee / Oil to cook Palak Paneer Paratha

Ingredients for Stuffing

  • Paneer grated : 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder : a pinch
  • Red Chili Powder : as per taste if required
  • Garam Masala : 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh Green Coriander : 1 table Spoon

Palak Paneer Paratha Recipe Details

To prepare Palak Paneer Paratha, first of all wash the Palak leaves and leave the leaves in hot water for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, drain the water and keep the leaves aside to cool down.
Once the leaves are cold enough to handle, we make palak leaves paste. Grind the leaves in a mixer grinder. Keep it aside . We are going to use this palak paste in dough while kneading.
Take whole wheat flour in a bowl. Mix palak paste in it. As of now we do not need to add water. Once the palak paste is mixed well, check the consistency and then decide about water.
Mix the dry spices turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt in the flour. Use of spices is a personal preference. Some people may like the spice mix dough and some may not like it. Which spice and how much it should be used is totally a choice.

Mix all the ingredients well to make dough. If the dough feels dry , add a bit of water to make kneading easy. In this dough, water may not be required at all or a very little quantity of water will be required to make dough ready.
Once the dough is ready, cover it with a cotton cloth and keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes. Meanwhile prepare the stuffing.
For the stuffing of Palak Paneer Paratha, we need grated paneer. You can use homemade paneer or the store bought frozen paneer as well. If it is a store bought frozen paneer, keep it in warm water till it is soft and than grate the paneer cubes.
Add the spices turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt to taste, garam masala and thin chopped fresh green coriander leaves. Fresh coriander leaves adds freshness and aroma to the Palak Paneer Paratha. Now the stuffing is ready, we can start stuffing parathas and cooking it.
Divide the dough in small portions and roll one portion like chapati to a size of 4 to 5 inches.
Place a spoon full of paneer stuffing at the center of rolled dough.
Seal the stuffing in the dough by pulling the outer edges towards inside.
Dust the stuffed dough and roll again to 4 to 5 inch size. Meanwhile heat a tawa / griddle and when it is ready, place the rolled stuffed dough on it to cook further.
Once the top of paratha starts changing color, flip the side and cook both sides evenly.
Apply ghee or oil on both sides of the paratha and cook evenly till brown spots appear on it. Repeat the process for the rest of the dough.

Now Palak Paneer Paratha is ready to serve. Have it hot with your favorite chutney , chai and pickle or keep it aside for cooling and pack in the lunchbox.
